DAVID BROCK SMITH’S STATEMENT FOLLOWING OREGON’S 2026 GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS

PORT ORFORD, OR – Republican State Senator and candidate for U.S. Senate David Brock Smith released a statement following the results of the 2026 General Election for U.S. Senate in Oregon. Senator Smith is deeply grateful to all his donors, supporters, and volunteers and will continue his work to make Oregon the best it can be.

“Last night, the voters of Oregon made their decision. While the result are not the one we hoped for, I want to begin by congratulating Senator Merkley on his reelection. I look forward to our continued work together for all Oregonians.

It has been a profound honor to be your nominee for the United States Senate. To travel across Oregon, from our coast to our rangelands, from rural communities to our cities, listening to the hopes, frustrations, and aspirations of the people who call this state home. Oregonians are resilient, hardworking, and proud. You deserve leaders who listen, who tell the truth, and who deliver results.

I am deeply grateful to my campaign team, to every volunteer who knocked on doors, made calls, and shared our message, to every supporter who stood with us, and to every financial supporter who invested in this effort. Your time, your energy, and your belief in a better path for Oregon made this campaign possible. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

It has also been a sincere privilege to run alongside outstanding candidates who share a commitment to Oregon’s future, my friend and colleague Senator Christine Drazan for Governor, and the many strong candidates for the U.S. House and for the Oregon House and Senate. Together we offered a clear alternative focused on practical solutions, stronger communities, and greater opportunity. I am proud to have stood with them.

While this race has ended, my service to Oregon has not. I will continue to serve in the Oregon State Senate, working every day for the people I represent and for the priorities that matter to families across our beloved state.

Moving forward, we must bring real affordability to Oregon so families can keep more of what they earn and stay in the communities they love. We must pursue education reforms that put students first and give every child a genuine chance to succeed. We must practice responsible forest management that reduces the threat of catastrophic wildfires and grows rural jobs and economies. We must strengthen public safety, so every Oregonian feels secure in their neighborhood. And we must advance effective addiction treatment and homelessness reforms that offer recovery, dignity, and hope rather than simply managing crisis.

These challenges are real. So is the strength of the Oregon spirit. I remain committed to working with anyone, regardless of party, who is willing to put results ahead of politics and practical solutions ahead of ideology. Oregon deserves nothing less.
